Following on from Street Fighter IV, Capcom has released Marvel VS. Capcom 2 for iOS devices. It’s a universal app – its £1.99 promotional price will net you both the iPad and iPhone versions.
Capcom has released another iPhone title that should put a smile on the face of many a serious gamer. Marvel VS. Capcom 2 is now available for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad, for the very reasonable sum of £1.99. Tempted? It’ll only sell at this reduced price until May 6.
Capcom calls the game a “fully featured” port of the classic beat ‘em up, released previously for the Xbox and PS2 consoles back in 2002. Impressive features include a Bluetooth-enabled two player versus mode and a 56-character roster. Blending the superhero Marvel world and the video gaming Capcom stable, fighters range from staples like Ryu and Blanka to Iron Man and Wolverine.
The more movie-centric characters explain the current price promo – there to celebrate the upcoming Avengers film. As feature-complete as it sounds, Marvel VS. Capcom 2 could be KO’d by its controls. It, naturally, relies upon touchscreen controls and, on top of virtual buttons, introduces gesture-based “Flick button” input to make things even simpler.
Already had a go? Let us know how you think Capcom has done. Marvel VS. Capcom 2 is a Universal app, but won’t work with iPhones of the 3GS generation or earlier, or the first-gen iPad.
