Mario Maker coming September for Super Mario Bros 30th Anniversary

Nintendo has revealed a loose release date window for Mario Maker, with the Wii U title landing sometime in September.

Mario Maker will arrive sometime in September, Nintendo has announced, just in time for the 30th Anniversary of Super Mario Bros.

Although we don’t have an exact release date for Mario Maker yet, Nintendo has confirmed its release will be part of the celebrations for the big Super Mario Bros anniversary.

“It’s been 30 years since the release of Super Mario Bros. in 1985,” said Nintendo President Satoru Iwata. “I couldn’t be happier that Mario continues to be active  across a wide range of games. Thanks in no small part to the love you all have for Mario. I’m extremely thankful.”

Mario Maker is a Wii U exclusive game that lets you build custom Super Mario stages – both in the original Super Mario Bros style and the more recent New Super Mario Bros series.

It also looks like Mario Maker won’t be the only way Nintendo is celebrating Super Mario Bros’ 30th birthday either.

“As we approach its release we’ll be finding fun ways to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Super Mario”, teased Iwata.
