Mario Kart producer heading Nintendo mobile games

Mario Kart producer, Hideki Konno, is heading up Nintendo’s mobile games, according to a new report.

During the company’s latest financial reports announcement, Nintendo boss Satoru Iwata revealed Nintendo is putting the producer of the Mario Kart series on its mobile games.

That’s according to a Sankei report translated by Nintendo Everything, which outlines that the Mario Kart producer is heading up the mobile game development at Nintendo.

“It should help you understand the level of commitment from Nintendo,” said Iwata.

Although Iwata didn’t mention any names, most are assuming the company is referring to Hideki Konno, who has been behind the Mario Kart series since the DS entry back in 2005.

Konno has also been the producer on Mario Kart Wii, Mario Kart 7 and Mario Kart 8.

The report also outlined that Nintendo intends to use the same developers for its mobile games as it does for the 3DS and Wii U Games.

Nintendo is teaming up with Japanese mobile games giant DeNA to create unique experiences specifically for mobile platforms.

The pair have said that “only new original games optimised for smart device functionality will be created, rather than porting games created specifically for the Wii U home console or the Nintendo 3DS portable system.”
