MacBook Pro 13in 2012 Specs Leak - No Retina Display

WWDC is just a few days away, and is expected to bring the next wave of Apple revelations, including iOS 6 and potentially some brand-new hardware. A new 13in MacBook Pro model could be among them, if a set of newly-leaked specs are anything to go by. However, if they are the real deal, the Pro line is set for a minor refresh only.

Over the last few months, a series of rumours has suggested the next range of Apple laptops will feature super high-resolution Retina Display screens. A MacBook Pro 13in specs leak from a Chinese forum suggests these are pure hogwash, though. A photo of the new laptop's spec sheet suggests it'll have a 1280 x 800 pixel panel, the same as the current model.

If real, the next MacBook Pro line is likely to be a minor tweak of the current range, upgrading the Sandy Bridge processors to Ivy Bridge models. The leak shows the specs for a 2.5GHz dual-core i5 model - its Ivy Bridge roots shown off by the inclusion of the Intel HD 4000 integrated graphics chipset. Other improvements include the addition of two USB 3.0 ports and faster RAM - 1600MHz DDR3 in place of the current 1333MHz DDR3 sticks.

The body and look of the laptop is likely to remain completely unchanged - with weight and dimensions quoted virtually identical to existing models. This news may come as a disappointment if you're waiting out for the next leap forward in the MacBook range, but more exciting developments may yet be afoot elsewhere in the series. We'll be back with more once WWDC 2012 kicks off on June 11.
