Lytro has announced that its Lytro consumer light field camera will be available in the UK from July 22.
With the light field technology, users can focus a picture after it is taken, shifting the perspective to create an entirely different photograph post-event.
Lytro Features
The Lytro features a light field sensor that is capable of capturing the colour, direction and intensity of every light ray that enters the camera. This means the Lytro can capture “interactive living pictures” that can be repeatedly refocused after the shot is taken.
Users can then shift the perspective in the image via the Lytro’s touchscreen to choose a different angle for the shot.
The Lytro has 8x optical zoom and an f/2 lens to complement its light field sensor, all contained within its rather distinctive design.
Other than the touchscreen, the Lytro has just two buttons, power and the shutter, for ease of use and for a clean finish.
Using the touchscreen, consumers can also apply one of the Lytro’s nine Living Filters to change the look of the image, similar to the Instagram filters.
iOS device owners can use the Lytro Mobile App to share their Lytro pictures on the go, or use their iPad mini or iPhone 5 for example to play around with the Perspective Shift options within the app.
Lytro Release Date and Price
The Lytro will be available from John Lewis from July 22, with Harrods and Dixons offering the light field camera from August. With five colour options on offer, the 8GB Lytro will retail for £399, while the 16GB Lytro is £469.
