LoveFilm has announced it will be premièring the new hit US TV series, Vikings, streaming exclusively from the LoveFilm Instant service.
Arriving on LoveFilm Instant from May 24, LoveFilm subscribers will be able to enjoy the nine-episode first series of Nore action-drama Vikings streamed in HD.
Vikings, a tale of brotherhood, family and ambition also brings in themes of warfare, violence and romance, and is currently the number one new US TV series.
Airing on the History channel in America, Amazon owned LoveFilm will be the only UK broadcasting platform to show the series.
“As the first time a TV series has arrived on LoveFilm Instant before airing on traditional broadcasting platforms, this is an incredibly exciting landmark in our history,” said Director of Film Strategy at LoveFilm Chris Bird. “We are serious about securing the best film and TV entertainment for our members and this demonstrates how content creators view LoveFilm as an effective broadcasting medium for their high-quality and premium entertainment.”
Vikings stars Gabriel Byrne of The Usual Suspects fame, Travis Fimmel and Katheryn Winnick and can be caught in the UK from May 24 and in Germany from June 15.

Both LoveFilm and rival Netflix are trying to offer an increased range of exclusive content to differentiate themselves from their competitors. Netflix had great success with its original TV series House of Cards, while LoveFilm has launch original Amazon Studios pilot TV episodes for its viewers to vote on.
LoveFilm is available on a growing range of devices, including the Nintendo Wii U, Kindle Fire HD, iPad mini and smartphones like the Google Nexus 4 and iPhone 5.
