LoveFilm streaming adds Channel 4 TV content

On-demand movie specialist LoveFilm has announced a new content deal with Channel 4, providing its users access to the broadcaster’s 4 on Demand archives.

The deal, which will expand LoveFilm’s ever increasing library, will allow subscription customers to enjoy a variety of Channel 4’s most popular titles, including The Inbetweeners, Father Ted, and the award-winning Peep Show.

The Amazon company will be offering the new content in a special 4oD collection that will grow over time as more of Channel 4’s shows are added, with all episodes of both Shameless and The IT Crowd set to make appearances.

Long serving Channel 4 fans will be able to enjoy watching old favourites such as Drop the Dead Donkey and cult drama Queer As Folk, both of which have become synonymous with the broadcaster’s identity.

“Our TV offering has gone from strength to strength and this deal will bring even more iconic British content to the service,” said Jim Buckle, Managing Director at LoveFilm. “We’re proud to offer more diverse and exciting instant television programming to our members than any other subscription service.”

The news of LoveFilm’s latest partnership follows just a week after the announcement of the streaming specialist’s TV series deal with NBCUniversal, and further expands the service’s archive which already includes content from BBC, ABC and ITV.

“We’re very proud of our rich archive of shows on 4oD and we’re delighted to find another platform for many of them on LoveFilm,” added Director of Commercial and Business Development at Channel 4, Sarah Rose. “Our growing mix of classic comedy, drama and documentary spanning 30 years of broadcasting, complements LoveFilm’s already diverse ranging of great programmes and films.”
