Livall Bling is a smart cycling helmet with music, lights and communication

Cycling helmets are getting smarter. We’ve seen ones with brake lights before, and ones that fold up to fit in a bag. But this one is the most tech-heavy so far.

It’s called the Livall Bling, and it does everything you could need a cycling helmet to do. There’s a microphone, Bluetooth speaker, plus lights to make sure you’re safe and seen.

The microphone features windbreaker technology, so no matter how fast you’re going, calls will be loud and clear. It works like a walkie-talkie using the Livall app, so you and your cycling pals can stay in touch. If someone sends you a text message, the helmet will read it out, so again, there’s no need to stop.

The Bluetooth speaker will pump out music from your phone too, and will be much safer than headphones as you’ll stay aware of your surroundings. You can select songs, pause and play using the controls built into the helmet, so your phone stays in your bag.

It also doubles as an emergency beacon. The three-axis G-sensor will detect if you fall and send an SOS alert to your emergency contacts. The helmet’s lights will also flash red to alert any passersby.

Speaking of which, the helmet is covered with lights. Indicators tell people which way you’re going (controlled via the remote on the handlebars), while the others make sure you’re lit up like a Christmas tree.

It’s everything a cyclist could need. It’s passed its funding goal and will ship in October. Pledge $159 (£103) and it can be yours.
