Limited Edition red BlackBerry Z10 unveiled

Following last week’s BlackBerry Z10 release date, BlackBerry has confirmed that it will add to the existing black and white handset iterations with a Limited Edition red BlackBerry Z10 officially announced.

Set to land exclusive to registered BlackBerry 10 developers, the new red BlackBerry Z10 has yet to be confirmed for public release, with the Canadian handset manufacturer revealing that just 12,000 of the Limited Edition handsets are being built.

“12,000 Limited Edition smartphones are being built exclusively for developers who created apps in time for launch,” an official BlackBerry spokesperson said. “Developers who had previously qualified to receive a BlackBerry Dev Alpha A or B testing device, and who have an application submitted on BlackBerry World, may apply to swap the testing device unit for the red, limited edition model of the BlackBerry Z10.”

Confirmed less than a week after the January 31 BlackBerry Z10 UK release date, the new red BlackBerry Z10 handset was confirmed alongside the new BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha C, a QWERTY packing device designed for testing pre-release applications.

BlackBerry Z10 Specs
Playing host to the same collection of innards as its current white and black counterparts, the newly announced red BlackBerry Z10 is set to boast the company’s new BlackBerry 10 OS alongside a stunningly sharp 4.2-inch LCD display.

Playing host to a 1280 x 768p resolution and 356 DPI image density, the BlackBerry Z10 specs sheet is further bolstered by 2GB of RAM, a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm processor and 16GB of internal storage, expandable via microSD.

With an 11 hour talk time battery life, the BlackBerry Z10, which measures in at just 9mm thick and feature 4G connectivity options, sports an 8-megapixel rear-mounted camera with 1080p Full HD video recording capabilities. A second, 2-megapixel snapper features on the device’s fore.
