Leaked image shows the LG V35 ThinQ is unlikely to be a giant leap forward

The LG V35 ThinQ is slated to be the company’s next flagship, with recent rumours suggesting it could arrive anytime between June and late August.

Now we may have gotten our first look at the next V-Series handset. However, according to the image leaked by IT Home, the design looks like it will be identical to its predecessor.

Just like the V30 and V30S phones, it offers super-slim bezels and, importantly for some users, no cut-out notch at the top of the display. Given the LG G7 ThinQ deployed the controversial notch, it’s important LG is still giving users that choice when selecting a flagship smartphone.

It looks as if the 18:9 aspect ratio is staying the same, along with the 6-inch OLED display, although it’s impossible to tell from this image. For the G7 ThinQ, LG chose to go with an LCD display, claiming it was saving the OLEDs for its V-Series. This image also lacks the Google Assistant button that appeared on the G7.

The leaked blurrycam snap isn’t accompanied by information on the specs, unfortunately, but previous indications are that the phone will feature the top Snapdragon 845 processor, accompanied by 6GB of RAM.

We’re also expecting a pair of 16-megapixel rear-facing cameras and an improved 8-megapixel selfie camera. We can also count on all of the high-end video and audio tools associated with the V-Series handsets.

However, whether all of this will be enough to convince LG fans to dive in is up for debate.

Given this appears to be somewhat of an incremental update, people might be willing to wait a little bit longer for the LG V40 to arrive on the scene. However, for those who don’t own a V30 or V30S, this’ll be the handset to go for.

The company has changed tack this year with plans to get more out of existing handset designs rather than offering constant refreshes akin to its competitors.

Is LG on the right track with its rapid, incremental updates to existing phones? Or would you rather the company go back to fewer flagship releases? Let us know @TrustedReviews on Twitter.
