LG’s next smartphone specs leaked, and it sounds amazing

lg v10

The LG V20 is now just one month away from launch, so it’s no surprise that we’ve already seen another major leak before the official debut.

After LG’s recent confirmation that a sequel to last year's LG V10 – aptly named the LG V20 – was set to arrive this September, we’ve seen a steady trickle of information about the phone turning up online. The latest leak comes courtesy of mobile blog Phonesspot, which details the handset’s supposed specs, citing an anonymous source:

  • 5.7-inch screen (plus small secondary display)
  • 1,440 x 2,560 pixel display resolution
  • Snapdragon 820 CPU
  • Adreno 530 GPU
  • 4GB RAM
  • 21-megapixel primary camera (dual-lens)
  • 8-megapixel secondary camera
  • Android 7.0 Nougat OS

Naturally, we need to caveat this with the obvious: there’s every chance that this leak is entirely spurious. As with any pre-launch leak, we can’t verify the information at hand. That said, we’re now very close to the phone’s official unveiling, so leaks will get progressively more credible as the launch date approaches.

The LG V10 was revealed in September last year, and was well-received critically. The handset was similar to the LG G4 in terms of specs, but had a few tweaks. The most obvious change was a customisable second display that sat above the primary display, which showed notifications and music controls without forcing the user to wake up the primary display.

LG is likely to borrow many of the components featured in this year’s LG G5 for the LG V20, and it’s highly likely that we’ll see the return of the secondary display too – otherwise, what’s the point?

those specs are hardly amazing and the second screen is yet another gimmick by LG who dont seem to be able to innovate at all, love the OLED TV's though :)

I don't have the V10, but my friends who do say the 2nd screen is really useful actually. The build quality is top notch too, so lookin forward to the V20.

I'm a big Samsung guy, but I don't mind including LG as pretty awesome too. They really are innovative though, one of the only few it seems. The G2, G3, and G4 were all amazing phones that introduced new smartphone design schemes. The G5 is even more innovative, but I think their marketing wasn't done right. Their sales may not be as high as Samsung, but I think LG is definitely at the top of innovation.

I think LG's literally like only 1/2 a step away from becoming a breakout hit, so I wish them the best. Anyway, just sayin that if not Samsung, LG would definitely be my next go to brand.

I agree their TV's are GORGEOUS!

Rumoured specs don't blow me away either.
Where is the iris scanner, the gorilla glass 5, an oled display (2 or 4k), 6GB of ram, stereo speakers and 'project tango (AR)'.

The 2nd screen is definitely NOT gimmicky! I use it for many things. I Have it as my calendar during regular on screen usage. When I am traveling, I use it to control my music while the navigation controls the main screen actually making it more safe to drive and control your phone. When the screen is off, I can still control the music from the 2nd screen. Controlling the music while the screen is off was in the Android 6.0 update. I love the V10. If they update the cpu/gpu and add a bigger battery it will STILL be the best phone. The V10 was no doubt....NO DOUBT...the best phone last year! Can't wait for the V20. Based on the specs they aren't going to mess too much with a good thing.

I forgot to say, the always on feature that all phone makers are using now started with the LG V10 as it had always on with the 2nd screen.

the features you mentioned wont cause me to buy a phone. I would like the V20 to be waterproof though.

I had the Note 2, Note 3, Note 4. Finally switched over when Samsung cut all the features out in the Note 5. The LG V10 was the perfect upgrade. Its the best phone I've owned.

The biggest problem with smart phones is battery life. The more you increase the resolution, the bigger power drain it is on the battery. That is why you haven't seen any increases this year in resolution. In fact, the new Note 7 allows you to REDUCE the resolution in the battery saving mode. Finally, your not going to tell a freaking difference with 2k. LOL
