The LG V20 is now just one month away from launch, so it’s no surprise that we’ve already seen another major leak before the official debut.
After LG’s recent confirmation that a sequel to last year's LG V10 – aptly named the LG V20 – was set to arrive this September, we’ve seen a steady trickle of information about the phone turning up online. The latest leak comes courtesy of mobile blog Phonesspot, which details the handset’s supposed specs, citing an anonymous source:
- 5.7-inch screen (plus small secondary display)
- 1,440 x 2,560 pixel display resolution
- Snapdragon 820 CPU
- Adreno 530 GPU
- 4GB RAM
- 21-megapixel primary camera (dual-lens)
- 8-megapixel secondary camera
- Android 7.0 Nougat OS
Naturally, we need to caveat this with the obvious: there’s every chance that this leak is entirely spurious. As with any pre-launch leak, we can’t verify the information at hand. That said, we’re now very close to the phone’s official unveiling, so leaks will get progressively more credible as the launch date approaches.
The LG V10 was revealed in September last year, and was well-received critically. The handset was similar to the LG G4 in terms of specs, but had a few tweaks. The most obvious change was a customisable second display that sat above the primary display, which showed notifications and music controls without forcing the user to wake up the primary display.
LG is likely to borrow many of the components featured in this year’s LG G5 for the LG V20, and it’s highly likely that we’ll see the return of the secondary display too – otherwise, what’s the point?
