LG has pulled the first ever LTE-capable Android Wear smartwatch from sale owing to a hardware fault.
The LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition hit US operator AT&T last week, but the network recently began notifying customers of a quality issue with the product.
Now LG has confirmed that there is “a hardware issue which affects the day-to-day functionality of the device,” and that it is stopping sales of the Watch Urbane 2nd Edition as a result.
It’s not known when the smartwatch will be returning to the market, or how this will affect LG’s international rollout plans for the device.
In the meantime, as 9to5Google notes, AT&T has notified customers who have already received the LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition that they are eligible for a full refund or an exchange for another smartwatch. Rival Verizon has also put a hold on sales of the watch.

The LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition is the first and so far only smartwatch to make use of Google’s recent Android Wear update. It means that it can operate separately from a linked smartphone for things like messaging, Google searches, and even phone calls.
Those who are desperate for such an independently capable smartwatch could always opt for the Samsung Gear S2, but should note that it runs on a proprietary Samsung OS.
