LG Smart Light Bulb announced, pulses when your phone rings

LG has announced a new smart light bulb that will alert you when you have an incoming call.

Compatible with Android devices running Android 4.3 Jelly Bean or above, as well as iOS 6 or higher devices, the LG smart light bulb is definitely a quirky household product.

The 10w light bulb can connect via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth to provide a fairly wide array of features to use in the home.

Firstly, you can control the level of illumination in your home using the control app, or initiate a light-based alarm clock that will slowly turn on the lights when you decide you need to wake up.

You can also utilise the security mode, where you can adjust the time and location in which the lights come on when you happen to be out of the house for extended periods of time.

Neither of these are new features, as they are already present in other similar items like the Philips Hue lightbulb range.

However, what makes the LG smart light bulb a little different is its smartphone interactivity. The bulbs can flash when you get a phone call, or if you’re using an Android phone the bulbs can pulse in time with the music you’re playing to create a “party atmosphere”.

LG claims that the smart light bulb can save 80 per cent more energy in comparison to traditional light bulbs and can offer a life time of around 10 years based on 5 hours of use a day.

The LG smart light bulbs will go on sale in South Korea for 35,000 won (£20), but there’s no word on a wider availability as yet.

Would you want such a light bulb in your home? Or would a pulsating light bulb be too irritating to live with? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
