LG has launched the LG Optimus L7 handset it announced at MWC in its native South Korea, but under the name of the Optimus LTE III.
Just like the LG Optimus L7, the LG Optimus LTE III is a capable mid-range Android smartphone with some impressive specifications.
The Optimus LTE III comes with a 4.7-inch True HD IPS (which means a 1280 x 720 or 720p resolution) display. It’s powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core CPU backed by a healthy 2GB of RAM. You’ll be able to count on 8GB of internal storage and a microSD card slot for expansion purposes.
Around back you’ll find an 8-megapixel camera, with a fairly standard 1.3-megapixel example on the front.
The LG Optimus LTE III runs on a 2,540mAh battery. It might make you wonder why there’s such a hefty battery given the lack of a quad-core processor and Full HD screen. The clue’s in the name – the LG Optimus LTE III’s big feature is its 4G LTE capabilities, with the advanced network being famously power-hungry.
Interestingly, LG is positioning the LG Optimus LTE III as a kind of my-first-smartphone crossover device for feature phone users. To that end it’s including an easy mode to help inexperienced users to grow accustomed to the advanced smartphone features we all take for granted.
The western equivalent of the LG Optimus LTE III, the LG Optimus L7, is expected to launch during the second quarter of 2013.
