The LG Optimus G2 launch event recently confirmed to be held in New York on August 7 will reportedly see the Korean manufacturer’s new flagship phone share the limelight with additional devices.
Tipped to be a rival to the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One, the LG Optimus G2 is expected to touch town at LG’s recently confirmed launch event, with latest reports claiming the high-end handset will line up next to new mid-market and entry level offerings.
Citing an unnamed ‘tipster’, TechTastic has claimed the LG Optimus G2 launch event will also see the LG Optimus L9 2 (LG-D600) and a handset with the model number LG-D500 enter the realms of reality.
Although currently unconfirmed, it has been suggested that the LG Optimus L9 2 will be a mid-range smartphone with a 4.7-inch 720p HD display akin to that on the Google Nexus 4 being paired with a 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor. On top of this, the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean powered device has been mooted to see an 8-megapixel rear-mounted camera and NFC connectivity options make the cut.
On a less specs impressive front, the tipped LG-D500 is said to host a 1.2GHz Qualcomm CPU alongside a 5-megapixel rear-mounted snapper, Android 4.1 and a 960 x 540 pixel display of unconfirmed size.
While the LG Optimus L9 sounds like a relatively strong mid-market offering, neither teased handset can hold a candle to the recently leaked array of specs that are reportedly set to be bestowed upon the LG Optimus G2.
Expected to give the likes of the iPhone 5 and Sony Xperia Z a run for their respective monies, the LG Optimus G2 is said to be heading for release with a 5-inch, 1080p Full HD display and a new quad-core Qualcomm CPU in tow. With 2GB of RAM and a 13-megapixel camera seeing it further compared with the S4, it is believed the handset will land with the latest Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS preinstalled.
Shaping up to be LG’s most impressive smartphone offering to date, it has been claimed that the handset will not feature the usual trio of Android buttons at the base of the device, instead incorporating them within the onscreen interface.
