The LG Optimus G Pro has been officially revealed, along with information on its brand new cutting edge Qualcomm CPU.
LG has finally unveiled the much-rumoured (and much leaked) LG Optimus G Pro in its native South Korea. We now have a complete picture of its specs and when it will make an appearance in the west.
The LG Optimus G Pro will come with a 5.5-inch Full HD (1080p) display, which is actually around half an inch bigger than the version that hit Japan. In order to push those extra pixels, this new version will also have a slightly larger battery – 3,140mAh compared to 3,000mAh.
Most interesting, though, is news of the LG Optimus G Pro’s processor – it’ll be the first device to run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 600 CPU. Only revealed at CES 2013 last month, this quad-core chip will be clocked at a healthy 1.7GHz.
This CPU will be backed by 2GB of RAM, and there’ll be 32GB of internal storage as well as a microSD slot for expansion purposes.
In terms of the LG Optimus G Pro’s photographic potential, it’ll come with a 13-megapixel main camera and a 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera. A new software feature will allow users to record from both cameras simultaneously for a cinematic picture-in-picture view.
VR Panorama, meanwhile, will allows users to capture a complete 360 degree view of their surroundings.
The LG Optimus G Pro will run on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean out of the box.
LG has revealed that the LG Optimus G Pro will hit the US in the second quarter of 2013, so hopefully we’ll be seeing the device over here in Europe during the same period.
