LG Nemo tipped as highest-resolution Android Wear smartwatch yet

With so many smartwatches now on the market, manufacturers need to differentiate their products.

LG’s effort in this respect could be in launching a wearable with the highest resolution we’ve yet seen from an Android Wear timepiece.

It’s rumoured that the South Korean tech giant is working on a new smartwatch, developed under the codename “Nemo”.

That’s according to a report by Phandroid, which claims it has access to insider information that reveals the LG Nemo will feature an impressive 480 x 480 pixel resolution.

That might sound low compared to current smartphone fare, but don’t forget that the company’s LG Watch Urbane has a diminutive 1.3in circular display.

If the LG Nemo follows suit, it would have a pixel density of more than 340 pixels per inch.

An increase in screen resolution on smartwatches can only mean good things for viewing their displays.

The flipside is that cranking up the number of pixels on a small panel could seriously impact battery life.

Charge life is already one of the primary issues of contention when it comes to smartwatches.

Consumers might not be too happy to take a hit on already unimpressive smartwatch battery life just for a slightly crisper display.
