LG G3

An unknown LG handset has just turned up on Geekbench touting Qualcomm’s newest chipset fare.

The LG-F510L was benchmarked on the site running the new Snapdragon 810 system-on-a-chip.

The Snapdragon 810 is Qualcomm’s latest flagship chip, and touts eight-core big.LITTLE architecture, as well as Adreno 430 graphics.

It’s built using a more efficient 20nm manufacturing process, and will bring a host of improvements like a Cat.9 LTE modem, 4K video playback support, 64-bit architecture support, and improved battery life.

The chip is tagged up on the benchmark results as ‘msm8994’, which we know to be the Snapdragon 810.

Android 5.0.1 Lollipop also makes an appearance on the benchmark, suggesting that the device will land with the latest version of Google’s mobile OS on board.

So when will we see this enigmatic blower? Well all of tech-dom is focused on CES in Las Vegas right now, so that could be a prime opportunity to showcase a new Snapdragon 810-fuelled device.

More likely though is that LG will save its likely flagship launch for Mobile World Congress in early March, with a consumer release shortly thereafter.

This is made all the more probable by the fact that this mystery smartphone is probably the unconfirmed LG G4, the predecessors of which all saw similarly spring-bound launch dates.
