LG launches UK sales of first UK 55-inch OLED TV

LG has announced that UK consumers can now pre-order the world’s first 55-inch OLED TV for delivery in July.

Already shipping in Korea and the US, LG has now confirmed the UK details for the ground-breaking TV, which offers crisp, vivid pictures via its WRGB technology.

“We are proud to be the first in the world to offer consumers a big screen OLED TV,” said Brian Na, LG Electronics UK President. “LG’s next generation display is a true game changer, which will forever alter the way we think about TVs.”

“Since OLED TV was first unveiled, we’ve been working tirelessly to bring what we call ‘the ultimate display’ to market. I’m sure you’ll agree that our 55-inch OLED TV has definitely been worth the wait.”

LG OLED TV Features
First launched in South Korea in January, the LG OLED TV utilises the cutting edge OLED technology, which is designed to be more energy efficient and deliver a better picture quality than LED or Plasma displays.

Measuring up at just 4.5mm thick and weighing less than 10kg, the LG OLED TV is a stunningly designed TV, capable of offerings Full 1920 x 1080p HD resolutions for a realistic and vivid picture due to its WRGB technology. This means the OLED display introduces a white sub-pixel to compliment the traditional red, blue and green setup to create a more accurate and intense image.

The LG OLED TV also packs Smart TV features, such as catch-up TV from BBC iPlayer, on-demand movies from LoveFilm, games and social media apps.

Users can also enjoy Cinema 3D capabilities that make use of the OLED’s edge-to-edge Cinema Screen design. According to LG, the lack of bezel means the TV can offer an immersive home entertainment experience without compromising on style.

LG OLED TV Release Date and Price
Currently on display in the technology department at Harrods in London, the LG OLED TV UK release date has been set for sometime in July. Anyone wanting to fork out the £9,999.99 price tag can pre-order the premium model TV directly from the Harrods website.
