LG G Watch R release date may be as close as 14 October

The LG G Watch R may go on sale within a week or so, with 14 October pegged as a possible release date for LG’s round Android Wear watch.

South Korean ET News writes that the G Watch R will go on sale form 14 October, although there’s reportedly one store over there that’ll get the watch a week earlier – from Tuesday 7 October.

Back in September, LG confirmed that the watch is coming this month, although it has been tight-lipped about a concrete date. We first heard word of the LG G Watch R at the IFA press conference back in August 2014.

It hasn’t been an age since then, but the wait has felt like a long one.

The LG G Watch R promises to improve upon the design of the original LG G Watch, which was among the very first Android Wear watches to appear. And not quite a smash hit in our opinion.

The new LG G Watch R features a round face rather than a square one, giving it a rather more natural look than the LG original.

It’s coming soon, but an important question remains: will the 14 October release date also hold for people in the UK?

South Korea is LG’s home turf, so it’s perfectly plausible that the LG G Watch R will turn up here a little later.

The LG G Watch R is a cool £60 more than the £160 LG G Watch, but it trumps the older model in respects other than the design. It also has a higher-resolution 320 x 320 equivalent screen.
