The LG G Pad release date is set for some time this month, with the 8.3-inch slate launching with a “very competitive” price.

Aiming to compete with the likes of the iPad mini and Google's new Nexus 7, the LG G Pad should arrive later this month complete with a price that could give it the edge on the competition.

According to “sources familiar with the matter” speaking to Android Authority, the LG G Pad 8.3 will be priced “very competitively” somewhere in the $300 range.

If this is correct, the LG G Pad would be cheaper than the iPad mini, which starts at $329 in the US and £269 in the UK. It would be a little more expensive than the new Google Nexus 7 though, which is priced from $230 in the US and from £199 here.

LG has confirmed it wants to offer the LG G Pad in 30 countries by the end of 2013, and the sources suggest a release date for the US and UK at least is expected “towards the end of September”.

LG G Pad 8.3 Features
Bearing the same design features as the LG G2, the LG G Pad 8.3 has quite the specs sheet, combining an 8.3-inch 1920 x 1200p Full HD WUXGA display with a 1.7GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor and 2GB of RAM.

Like the LG G2, the G Pad has a very slim bezel around that screen, keeping the design compact and rather aesthetically pleasing. It runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean out of the box.

The LG G Pad is just 8.3mm thick and 338g in weight, helped in part by its plastic clad body that comes in white or black.

In the rear, the LG G Pad has a 5-megapixel camera, partnered with a 1.3-megapixel front-facing option.

Powered by a massive 4600mAh battery, the LG slate comes with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, but lacks a cellular data model.
