The LG G Pad 8.3 has been formally shown off in all its high spec glory just days after the upcoming tablet was confirmed in a teaser video.

Marking the Korean manufacturer’s return to the tablet scene, the LG G Pad 8.3 will sit alongside the recently unveiled LG G2 smartphone as a high-end challenger on the portable tech scene. Having revealed the tablet’s name earlier in the week, LG has today announced the full LG G Pad 8.3 spec ahead of the tablet’s official release later this year.

“Complementing our G Series smartphones, the introduction of the LG G Pad 8.3 further strengthens LG’s premium lineup consisting of our most cutting-edge devices,” Dr. Jong-seok Park, President and CEO of the LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company said in unveiling the iPad mini rival.

He added:  “Our G Pad is just another example of LG delivering devices with the unique selling points consumers around the world will appreciate.”

LG G Pad 8.3 Features
Lining up as an oversized version of the LG G2, the LG G Pad 8.3 is primed to boast a formidable specs sheet, with HD visuals lining up alongside quad-core innards and strong camera options.

Powered by Google’s Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS and topped by LG’s UX interface, the LG G Pad 8.3 sees a speedy 1.7GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor run the show alongside 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.

Lining up at just 8.3mm thick and a mere 338g in weight, the plastic clad LG G Pad 8.3 will be made available in both white and black colour schemes. It features an 8.3-inch WUXGA display with a 1920 x 1200p Full HD display and 273 pixels-per-inch image density. Like the G2 it hosts a reduced bezel, making the whole device little bigger than the expansive display.

Sporting cameras front and back, the LG G Pad 8.3 specs sheet sees a 5-megapixel rear-mounted snapper partnered with a 1.3-megapixel forward-facing option. The tablet boasts a whopping 4600mAh Lithium-Polymer battery for improved staying power.

LG G Pad 8.3 Release Date and Price

Although LG has yet to announce a finalised LG G Pad 8.3 price, the company has discussed when we can expect the premium tablet to hit retailers.

Still to narrow down an exact date, the LG G Pad 8.3 release date has been confirmed for Q4 2013, with Europe, North America and Asia all on the company’s launch radar.
