LG has finally officially unveiled its stunning upcoming 55-inch OLED
TV, and given an indication of how much it will cost and when it will be
available too.
The stunning new display, which we first clapped our eyes on back at CES
at the start of the year, looks set to be the best TV in the world when
it comes to image quality so to say we're looking forward to its
arrival is something of an understatement.
As well as sporting amazing image quality, the new set is also a mere
4mm thick across much of its surface and thanks to its carbon-fibre
reinforced chassis it weighs only 10kg.
All this can be yours for just £9,000 when products hit shop shelves in
July. Well, actually, you probably won't get yours until much later on
in the year as the initial run will be in a limited number of stores
only and will largely be for display purposes.

While that price is certainly high, it's actually surprisingly
reasonable considering how expensive OLED TVs of the past have been, and
how large this panel is. Then again, the old rule of never buying the
first version of a new technology could certainly apply here.
This 55in telly is being billed as the biggest OLED panel ever and,
along with Samsung's competing model, is the first wave of truly
commercial TVs to bring this technology to market. OLED is the future of telly but it'll be a while before it filters down to a point where we can all afford it.
Will you be grabbing one of these come winter time or is it a little too rich for your tastes? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
