Les Paul guitar-inspired Gibson headphones unveiled by Onkyo
Onkyo has confirmed it has teamed-up with guitar maker Gibson to produce headphones featuring the Gibson name and finishes inspired by Les Paul guitars
During the launch of its own range of headphones, Onkyo unveiled designs for the upcoming range of Gibson headphones. These are tweaked and rebranded editions of the Onkyo ES-FC300 headphones.
The designs evoke some of the most iconic Les Paul guitar finishes – Gold Top, Cherry Sunburst and Black Beauty. Onkyo said that these were early designs, though, and may change before the headphones are released later this year.
Onkyo has not yet announced firm release date information for the Gibson headphones.
These headphones are the culmination of a partnership that began in 2012, and Onkyo product consultant Kulwinder-Singh Rai has suggested it may bear other fruit in the future.
The headphones that these Gibson cans are based on are closed, full-size headphones designed for both portable and at-home use.
They use 40mm titanium drivers and use a removable cable. As headphones that are after a premium finish, they have aluminium earcups, although this may change in the Gibson pairs in order to better-incorporate some of the more eye-catching finishes.
Price and release information for the Gibson headphones has not yet been revealed – they are currently only teased as “coming soon”. We’ll be back with more information as it’s released.
