Chinese computing company Lenovo has announced its first wearable device at CES, an e-ink wristband called the VIBE.
Alongside a new 64-bit Intel-powered smartphone, the firm revealed the Lenovo VIBE Band V10 which promises a 7-day battery life even with the display and Bluetooth connectivity always switched on.
It’ll alert wearers to phone calls (but won’t let you take them) and texts as well as notifications from popular apps like Facebook, Twitter, WeChat and more.
The 1.43-inch e-ink display, which promises a clear display even in bright sunlight, is capable of showing 150 characters at a time, so enough for a full tweet.
In terms of fitness features it also offers basic tools like step and sleep tracking thanks to the build in motion sensors. It’s also waterproof to certain degree (IPx7) and can handle 30 minutes under water at a metre’s depth.

Unfortunately it’ll only be launched in Asia when it arrives on the scene in April for the reasonable price of $89 (around £58).
With Lenovo also owning Motorola, it’s not surprising the wearable won’t be making it to western shores, with the company likely focusing on the Moto 360 line of Android Wear smart watches.
The inclusion of an e-ink display is interesting however, as it’s certainly one way to tackle the most glaring fault holding back smart watches; the chronic battery life.
