During the opening throngs of the Lenovo Tech World keynote, the firm introduced a pair of prototype mobile devices showcasing the potential of flexible screen technology.
The Motorola parent company, with a little help from YouTube celebrity Meghan McCarthy, first revealed a smartphone that wraps around the wrist like a cuff bracelet.
Seconds later, she displayed a tablet that was capable of folding in half in order to take calls (in between looking at pictures of kitties).
Both devices are only prototypes for now, but Lenovo has promised updates in the future. Little else was revealed about the pair, with no mention of potential consumer release timelines.
The reveal comes in the same week we got word of Samsung’s reported plans to launch devices with flexible displays in early 2017.
The first, a smartphone that folded inhale like a make-up case and a tablet, that could be folded in half to use as a phone, just like the one demonstrated today at Lenovo Tech World.
It seems we're about to have a footrace between Lenovo and Moto to get this long-awaited tech to market first.
