Warner Bros Interactive has launched Lego Worlds on Steam Early Access as a brand new rival for Minecraft.
Lego Worlds is a brand new game that lets you create your own world within procedurally created sandbox worlds made entirely of Lego Bricks.
Developed by TT Games, the developers behind the Lego game franchise, Lego Worlds is now available to download via Steam Early Access for £11.99.
“Lego Worlds embodies the physical, Lego brick-building fun that consumers have enjoyed for decades, on a digital platform that delivers an entirely new type of experience with the beloved,” said Tom Stone, MD of TT Games. “From the brick-by-brick editor, to discovering an expansive range of items, characters and creatures to populate your worlds — the creative possibilities are endless.”
You’ll be able to create underground cave networks (a la Minecraft), biomes, AI creatures and even online and underwater gameplay.
The game will allow you to utilise elements from the main Lego games too, including the Red Brick cheats and fully customisable characters.

“Lego Worlds will be a fully open-world, creativity-driven game so we want to ensure that we provide it with the utmost care and attention as we expand our ideas,” reads the Lego Worlds Steam page. “The current plan for Lego Worlds is to be in Early Access through 2015 at which point we hope to have our full list of features in place.”
“We’ll evaluate a release candidate in early 2016, but we won’t consider the game complete and ready for release until we believe our community feels we have delivered a great game.”
The game will also feature discoveries and unlocks, ridable creatures and vehicles as well as a dynamic day and night cycle.
What it looks like too is that the biggest difference between Lego Worlds and Minecraft is that the Lego version allows you to manipulate patches of terrain at a time.
