Marty O’Donnell, the composer behind most of the Halo soundtracks, is back.
He’s founded his own studio, called Highwire Games, and says he’ll be involved in all stages of development for the game the company is currently working on.
He’s currently at E3, and has dropped a couple of hints regarding what that game might be about.
“We hope that you feel like you care about who you are in the game,” O’Donnell told IGN. “You care about the characters in the game in a really intimate way, as much as you care about any really powerful story that you’ve ever read or played or played a game.
“At the end of playing this game or while you were playing this game, you’re actually going to care about the characters that we’re presenting and the story of what’s going on.
“It’s an emotional connection we really feel is the most powerful thing a game can do. We want to make sure that we can do that. Maybe it has to be on a smaller level than saving the universe.”
He’s joined at Highwire Games, which describes itself as a company specialising in games, consoles and virtual reality, by former Halo designer Jaime Griesemer and Airtight Games co-founder Jared Noftle.

His grand return has caused plenty of excitement amongst gamers, who will no doubt be keeping a close eye on Highwire Games’ fortunes.
At Bungie, which sacked him in April 2014, O’Donnell was only responsible for music. He took the company to court following his dismissal.
