The Sony Xperia Z3 might be a mere six months old, but its successor may have already been revealed in a leaked press shot.
A new image has emerged (via Mobile-Leaks) that claims to show the Sony Xperia Z4 front-on, revealing new aspects of the smartphone’s design.
It’s worth noting that we’ve seen similar renders in the past, and they all seem to fit with this latest image in terms of design.
You’d be forgiven for thinking the latest render is just a press shot of the Xperia Z3, given its design similarity.
The most notable change (and there aren’t many) is that the speakers have moved.
Instead of small bezel-based grills, they’re back on the very top and bottom edge of the smartphone, just like they were on the Xperia Z2.
Sony has also switched the front-facing camera and proximity sensor around, although we’ve no idea why.
Otherwise, the handset looks very similar to the Xperia Z3 and all of its predecessors, with Sony clearly keen on sticking with its Omnibalance design approach.

As far as what else we can expect from the handset, previous rumours have pointed to a 5.2-inch Quad HD display, a Snapdragon 810 chipset, 4GB of RAM, a 20.7-megapixel rear-facing camera, and 32GB/64GB storage options.
Sony has yet to officially confirm the existence of the Sony Xperia Z4, although it unveiled a namesake slate in the form of the Xperia Z4 Tablet earlier this year.
The flagship smartphone is expected to launch any time between now and the end of September, although we’ve seen conflicting reports about exactly when the release will fall.
