Laura Matsuda officially announced for Street Fighter 5

After a number of leaks, Capcom has officially confirmed Laura as a new fighter in Street Fighter 5.

Last week, a character known as Laura Matsuda was leaked for Street Fighter 5 prior to her planned reveal.

Capcom has now officially confirmed her spot in the game. Laura was originally going to be unveiled during the Brazil Games Show.

According to a blog post on Capcom Unity, Laura is: “heir to the Matsuda Jiu-Jitsu fighting style” and is “looking for strong opponents around the world to defeat.”

Laura’s fighting style will allow players to perform a combination of quick attacks and command grabs to quickly dominate an opponent.

She also has a projectile attack, which can be used to get up close and personal with an enemy if the situation calls for it.

Laura’s V-Skill is called Linear Movement and it has a few different uses. By holding the medium punch and kick buttons, Laura will perform an overhead kick.

Combine this overhead kick with some subtle movement and Laura can get “in and out of an opponent’s range at will.”

It seems this skill can be utilised to escape enemies if you’re in a spot of trouble, or to deal some damage before making a quick retreat.

Laura’s V-Trigger is known as Spark Show, and essentially puts her in a temporary, electrified state.

Whilst Spark Show is activated her projectiles have better range and deal far more damage than usual.

V-Skills and and V-Triggers are new mechanics being introduced in Street Fighter 5, with each character having their own unique set.

Capcom is set to announce one more new character for Street Fighter 5, maybe that will leak too?

Street Fighter 5 will launch in 2016 for PS4 and PC.

A closed beta test is due to take place later this month.
