Kyocera claims that its new eco-friendly colour laser printer and multifunction devices offer an industry leading cost per page.
Document imaging company Kyocera Mita announced today that it has added to its range of colour printers and copiers. The FS-C8026N is a 26 page per minute colour laser printer, and the KM-C2630 is a multifunctional digital copier.
The FS-C8026N offers single pass colour printing with a maximum resolution of 1,800dpi and benefits from Kyocera’s Ecosys technology. Kyocera is well-known for its focus on eco-efficiency. With its printers, toner is the only consumable that needs to be replaced, as opposed to conventional lasers where the toner cartridge contains the drum and developer as well.
According to Kyocera, using figures supplied by Context, the consumables cost for FS-C8026N is only 2.84 pence per colour page. This is the most cost-effective in its class at 52 per cent less than its nearest rival, OKI C930N with a Cost Per Page (CPP) of 5.92 pence. Meanwhile, the mono CPP is just 0.6 pence.
The KM-C2630 is an A3 multifunctional digital copier and offers scanning, colour printing and copying and an optional fax facility.
A key feature of both the FS-C8026N and KM-C2630 is their fast duplex speed of 24.5 images per minute. This is important in encouraging users to produce documents in duplex, reducing paper consumption, and speeding-up the creation of booklets.
In addition to Ecosys, Kyocera has used PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) resin recycled to construct the fixing unit materials surrounding the roller. Furthermore, the products have been designed to be easily dismantled into their component parts at end of life to aid recycling.
Koby Amedume, Marketing Manager at Kyocera Mita, commenting on the importance of environmental awareness at the design stage, says, “At Kyocera we recognise the enormous responsibility that we have to develop products that are environmentally sound throughout their lifecycle. It is no use if a product adds value to our customers when in operation, but negates that value once it reaches the end of its life by causing an environmental disposal hazard. For this reason we incorporate environmental features into the products at the design stage.”
It’s certainly a breath of fresh air to see a manufacturer so focused on environmental issues and hope that it encourages others to follow suit.
The FS-C8026N has an RRP of £4,299 and the KM-C2630 has an RRP of £12,995. Both are available from Kyocera Mita dealers and resellers now.
