Konami starting work on next Metal Gear Solid

Konami has started work on the next Metal Gear Solid game, but whether or not Kojima is involved is still uncertain.

Although we’ve only just got Metal Gear Solid 5, publisher Konami has already begun discussing plans for a new Metal Gear game.

That’s according to Japanese publication Nikkei, which states that Konami believes the next entry in the stealth series will require a large budget to develop.

“When we start development, a large-scale investment will become necessary,” said Konami as reported by Kotaku

However, the same report doesn’t mention whether Metal Gear creator and developer Hideo Kojima is involved with the as yet unannounced project.

Of course, specifics such as the launch window or when Konami will officially reveal the game haven’t been confirmed either.

Konami recently shut down its LA studio, which is responsible for the multiplayer portion of MGS 5 known as Metal Gear Online.

More than five million copies of Metal Gear Solid 5 have been shipped across its various platforms since it launched in September.
