Kodi has committed to rolling out regular updates for its Xbox client. Here’s how to register to ensure you receive them before they’re pushed to the public through the Microsoft Store.
The process couldn’t be more straightforward. All you need to do is head over to Kodi’s Google Forms page, input the email address (no, not the password) linked to your Microsoft/Xbox account, then you’re good to go to receive the next Kodi update ahead of time.

“Your account e-mail address will only be used to add you to the recipient list of these pre-alpha Xbox versions,” explains Kodi, adding that it will not be used in any other way – not even for communication or registration.
Kodi launched its application for Xbox One at the end of 2017. It’s equipped with all the desktop client’s best-loved features, including support for addons – which is where the usual controversy comes into play.
While Kodi itself is a perfectly legal piece of software, some of its addons can be used to illegally stream premium content for free. This has placed Kodi at the centre of an international piracy storm, with multiple copyright organisations declaring war on so-called ‘fully-loaded Kodi boxes’.

Back in November, the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) revealed that around 70% of Kodi’s estimated 38 million users are using third-party plugins – which come pre-loaded on fully-loaded systems – to access pirated material.
That figure could well increase now the client has been released for Xbox One, as the platform is favoured by millions all over the world and installing Kodi on an Xbox One is a straightforward process that doesn’t even require any side-loading – unlike getting Kodi on a Fire TV Stick.
