Kodak will launch its first Android smartphone at CES 2015

Kodak will enter the smartphone and tablet business in 2015, with a range of Android devices focused around photography.

The iconic imaging company has licensed its name to British company the Bullit Group, who will build the devices. That’s the firm behind the toughphones launched under the Caterpillar name down the years.

The Android-powered devices, the first of which will be on show at CES 2015, are aimed tech novices who still want a high-end mobile experience.

The key feature will be the pre-loaded bespoke image capture, management and sharing features. The idea is to let users take, edit, share, store and print photos instantly.

The two companies say the devices won’t compromise on design and user experience, claiming in a press release (via The Verge) the Kodak Mobile Device range will be a hit in an under-served market.
