With the sad demise of the Flip Video camera, a gap in the pocketable camcorder market has definitely opened up and Kodak is looking to plug the gap.

The company already as a couple of dust, shock and water proof cameras in the form of the PlaySport Zx3 and Zx5 but is now launching an even more pocketable model at a lower price.

The Playfull Waterproof Video Camera from Kodak may not have the same rugged credentials as its PlaySport stable mates but it is still waterproof to three metres and drop-proof up to 1.5 metres.

The sleek model is only 12mm thick and is capable of capturing 720p HD video, although the PlaySport models supported up to Full HD 1080p shooting.

You will be able to capture up to 10 hours of HD video with a 32GB SDHC card, however we’d liked to have seen support for the larger capacity SDXC cards, but at the price, this is not a major quibble. Kodak has also included its Share button to allow for easy sharing via your favourite social network once connected to your PC.

Connecting to your PC is pretty straight forward, via the built-in retractable USB arm which plugs straight into your computer.

“A video camera should be easy to use, convenient to carry, and designed so you don’t worry about it regardless of where you are. Small enough to fit in a pocket, the new Kodak Playfull Waterproof is perfect for family fun with its waterproof and drop-proof capabilities, plus it’s great value,” said Paul Davey, Marketing Manager, Digital Capture and Accessories, Kodak.
