Kobo launches new Arc tablets and Aura eReader

Kobo has launched its new range of tablets and eReaders for 2013, including a new Kobo Aura eReader, Kobo Arc 10HD and a pair of Kobo Arc 7HD tablets.

Refreshing its tablet and eReader line-up for the year, Kobo has launched four new products and added a dedicated kids bookstore, magazines and Pocket to the range.

“Kobo remains focused on reading; a time-honoured passion that keeps people informed, lets them escape, learn about new cultures, see things from a new perspective, travel back in time, and imagine new worlds”, said Michael Serbinis, CEO at Kobo. “With magazines joining our eBookstore, a news kids experience, and the best eReading devices possible, we will help readers find more of what they love – taking them beyond the book.”

Kobo Aura eReader 2013 Features

The new Kobo Aura eReader 2013 has a 6-inch Peal E Ink ClarityScreen with a 1014 x 758p HD resolution screen.

It comes with 4GB of internal storage, which can store up to 3,000 books. However, this can be expanded via microSD card to an additional 32GB.

With a battery life of up to two months, the Kobo Aura will be priced at £119.99 and is available to pre-order now from the Kobo website.

Kobo Arc 10HD Features
Running on the Kobo Reading Life platform on top of Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, the Kobo Arc 10HD offers access to the Google Play store and Kobo’s own stores too.

The Kobo Arc 10HD has 1.8GHz quad-core Nvidia Tegra 4 processor with 2GB of RAM, with a 10.1-inch display and 2560 x 1600 Full HD resolution.

Lacking any rear camera, it does pack a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera and is capable of 1080p Full HD video playback.

It features Wifi, Bluetooth 4.0 and Miracast connectivity, and has a battery life of 8 hours. However, with Reading Mode enabled, that battery life is extended to 10 days.

Available soon, the Kobo Arc 10HD costs £299.99.

Kobo Arc 7-inch Tablet Features
Kobo is launching two 7-inch tablets, the Kobo Arc 7 and Kobo Arc 7HD. The Kobo Arc 7 is designed for first time tablet users or familes, according to Kobo, and has a 7-inch 1024 x 600p display.

The Kobo Arc 7 is powered by a MTK 8125 1.2GHz quad-core processor with 1GB of RAM and will be priced at £119.99 with 8GB of internal storage.

The Kobo Arc 7HD on the other hand is a more powerful beast with a 1.7GHz quad core Nvidia Tegra 3 processor and 1GB of RAM. It has a 1920 x 1200p Full HD display and delivers Full 1080p HD video playback.

Battery life is around 8 hours and it includes a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera. The Kobo Arc 7HD is available for £159.99 with 16GB internal stoage or £189.99 with 32GB.

Both 7-inch Arc tablets will be available soon.
