Kirby and the Rainbow Curse

Nintendo has confirmed Kirby and the Rainbow Curse release date will occur on May 8 in the UK and Europe.

Despite earlier indications that the upcoming Kirby title had been pushed to the second half of 2015 for launch, the game has been confirmed for a May release.

The Wii U exclusive Kirby and the Rainbow Curse has had a name change too alongside a release date. In Europe, the game will be known as Kirby and the Rainbow Paintbrush.

The game is still called Rainbow Curse in North America and Japan. It was launched in Japan back in January, followed by a February release in the US.

Strangely, EU Wii U owners have to wait until May for some colourful painting mayhem with our favourite pink buddy.

Seeing as it works in a similar way, Kirby and the Rainbow Curse is a kind of spiritual successor or sequel to the DS entry Kirby: Canvas Curse.

You use the Gamepad’s touch screen to draw lines, which Kirby can travel along rolled up in a ball.

You’ll need to use physics and logic to get Kirby from A to B without him being harmed or dropped – especially as you only have a limited about of rainbow to paint with.

For those looking for a multiplayer experience, Nintendo is including four-player co-op support, with your pals taking control of a cast of Waddle Dee characters.

You can even take advantage of Nintendo’s amiibo range with Kirby and the Rainbow Paintbrush.

You can use Kirby, King Dedede and Meta Knight amiibos with the game, giving Kirby some special abilities that he can use in the game. Kirby gives you a power up, Dedede unlocks additional health, while Meta Knight gives you a special attack.
