Swallows all variants of... well, everything really.
4-In-1 and 8-In-1 card readers have become common place, but memory specialist Kingston has stretched that with a mammoth 15-In-1 version.
CompactFlash (CF) I and II, Secure Digital, miniSD, MultiMediaCard (MMC) Version 3.1, MMCmobile (DV RS-MMC), MMCplus (Version4.0), RS-MMC (Version 3.1), Microdrive (CF Type II), Memory Stick, Memory Stick PRO, Memory Stick PRO Duo and Smart Media are all supported directly, while microSD and MMCmicro are rather cheekily included since they require SD and MMC adapters respectively.
Given the huge array of formats here, the reader itself is extremely compact at just 87.8 x 55.6 x 16mm and the USB2.0 interface means data transfer rates of up to 480Mbps (though this is dependant on the individual speed ratings of the memory card being read from). Backwards compatibility with USB1.1 means it will work with older machines running at the slower 12Mbps standard.
Installation is driverless, no separate power cable is required and you get a five year guarantee. Bearing all this in mind, the RRP is remarkably cheap at just £14.10 including VAT and I’m sure you’ll find it even cheaper online. If you’ve been holding back on buying yourself a memory card reader you’ve got absolutely no excuse now.
