USB 3.0 please hurry up...
There are USB drives and there are ”USB Drives”…
Proving the mine’s-bigger-than-yours philosophy is still alive and kicking Kingston Technology has stepped forward with the World’s first 128GBer…
Described as enough storage to hold 182 music CDs (ie lossless – make that 1820 at typical MP3 bitrates) or 27 DVD movies, this monster joins the company’s ‘DataTraveller 200’ line. It isn’t just storage centric however as Kingston has built password protection into the drive to protect against unauthorised usage.
The cap-less design also comes in 32GB and 64GB capacities and is Windows ReadyBoost compatible (remember that old chestnut?) while the technophobic will be happy with the standard five year warranty. One detail sadly missing are the data rates since transferring across 128GB of data could take hours depending on just how snappy that USB 2.0 implementation is.
UK pricing has yet to be revealed, but in the US, 128GB, 64GB and 32GB models will retain at *please sit down on something secure* $546, $213 and $120 respectively and they soon go on sale soon.
Anyone else thinking they can’t wait for the arrival of USB 3.0…?
