The Kazam Tornado2 is a new octa-core smartphone to arrive in the UK and will launch later this year with two different screen sizes.

Mobile newcomer Kazam has a new octa-core smartphone series to add to its device arsenal, launching the Tornado2 5.5 and Tornado2 5.0 at MWC 2014.

“We are excited to launch the first Kazam octo-core phones at the world’s largest mobile world trade show,” said Michael Coombes, CEO at Kazam. “The Kazam Tornado2 range delivers the ultimate mobile experience for those who demand a lot from their phone, it is a master of multi-tasking.”

Both the octa-core Tornado2 5.5 and its slightly smaller Tornado2 5.0 brother will be released in Q2 2014 in the UK.

Kazam Tornado2 5.5 Features
The Kazam Tornado2 5.5 features a 5.5-inch full 1080 x 1920p HD IPS display running on a 1.7GHz MediaTek MT6582 octa-core processor with 2GB of RAM.

Powered by a 2500mAh battery, the Tornado2 5.5 features a 13-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel front-facing snapper and comes packaged within a body that is 8.5mm thick.

It also comes with Bluetooth 4.0 LE, Wi-Fi and GPS connectivity, but lacks 4G LTE or NFC. It does come with 16GB of internal storage though, with support for microSD cards up to 32GB.

Sadly, Kazam has decided to equip the Tornado2 5.5 with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, rather than the latest Android 4.4 KitKat OS or even the newest version of Jelly Bean.

Kazam Tornado2 5.0 Features
The Tornado 5.0 matches the 5.5 model exactly apart from its smaller and lower resolution 5-inch 720 x 1280p HD display.

The amount of internal storage is also limited to 8GB and the RAM drops to 1GB. However, you can utilise microSD cards up to 64GB in the Tornado2 5.0.
