Smart speakers like the Amazon Echo and Google Home can handle most things you throw at them, but can they pour you a warming shot of bourbon on a cold winter’s night?
JIM, the smart decanter from the fine folks at Jim Beam, can. It’s the World’s First Intelligent Bourbon Decanter, which isn’t really all that surprising when you think about it.
Wake it up with a “Hey Jim” command and simply say “pour me a shot,” and the librations will begin to flow.

The 3G-enabled product can also answer some whiskey-related queries. Ask it “what’s the best way to drink bourbon?” and the company’s seventh-generation Master Distiller Fred Noe will answer “any damn way you like.”
Ask it the weather and, JIM will tell you “bourbon drinking weather.”
Anything else you ask, you’ll get an “I have no idea,” followed by some booze-related quip.
It might not be quite as functional as an Echo, but it sure beats Alexa’s “I’m sorry, I don’t know how to answer your question.” or “Hmm, I’m not sure what you meant by that question.”
The 3G functionality will last for just 6 months and then it reverts to a regular manual decanter, so at least the smarts will outlast the novelty value. Pre orders began today.
