JIC is an iPhone case that records your calls

Sorry, could you repeat that?

JIC (Just In Case) is the first iPhone case that's capable of recording your calls.

Maybe you're dealing with a shark of a landlord who claims he never agreed to fix that dripping tap. If you have the recording proving that he did, he won't have a leg to stand on.

It could also be useful for journalists, lawyers, secretaries, and anyone else who has to transcribe conversations as part of their job.

To start recording, just press the button on the back. It has a microSD card slot and can take cards up to 2GB, which will be plenty of hours' chat.

There's a play button too, so you can listen to the conversation back through the iPhone's speakers. Or just slot the microSD card into a computer and play it back through that.

It also works as a standard voice recorder, so you can keep a note of your excellent ideas or dreams you've had as soon as you wake.

It has its own rechargeable battery that will give you eight hours' use when fully juiced. Yes, it's another thing to charge, but eight hours should be plenty. Unless you distrust people so much you record your every phone call.

By the way, it's worth checking on the legal issues surrounding recording phone calls. Generally speaking, it's legal here in the UK, as long as the recordings are only for personal use and aren't shared with a third party. But we'd advise investigating further before using recordings for any purpose.

Interested? It's over half way to its funding goal and has 28 days to go. Pledge $29 (£20) and it can be yours when it ships in May.
