Jeff Bezos has cheekily offered to send infamous US presidential wannabe Donald Trump into space.
The Amazon founder and CEO doesn't often take to social media, but a chance to put the controversial Mr Trump (which sounds like a Roald Dahl book) in his place was clearly too much to resist. In only his fourth ever tweet, Bezos had this to say to the eccentrically follicled property magnate:
"Finally trashed by @realDonaldTrump. Will still reserve him a seat on the Blue Origin rocket. #sendDonaldtospace"
We suspect there will be many subscribers to the #sendDonaldtospace campaign in the US, if not the world, following a series of outlandish anti-immigration statements from Trump.
The trashing mentioned in the Bezos tweet is a reference to Trump's recent bout of sniping at the Amazon chief. The Apprentice US presenter Trump recently tweeted:
"If @amazon ever had to pay fair taxes, its stock would crash and it would crumble like a paper bag. The @washingtonpost scam is saving it!"
The Republican candidate clearly took exception to a recent Washington Post article exposing Trump's claims to have predicted Osama Bin Laden's threat as nonsense. Bezos, of course, has owned The Washington Post since 2013.
If you're wondering where the whole space angle comes in, Bezos's space flight company, Blue Origin, recently landed a reusable rocket in a continued bid to make commercial space flight viable.
