Jamie Oliver and Philips have joined forces to launch a new line of home cooking equipment, the flagship product of which is the Home Cooker, a one-pot cooking system. Joining Philips on stage at its press conference, Jamie rustled up a prawn curry in the new device, which one lucky journalist sample and verified as being rather nice.
The Home Cooker is a cross between a food processor and cooker. It consists of a main heated cooking pot with a stirrer in the middle that mixes your ingredients as they cook, and it can be timed to complete whatever it is you're cooking.
Unlike many conventional automatic cookers, the Home Cooker can do both slow cooking at low temperatures and be turned up to 250C to do faster frying. Once you're food's done the Home Cooker will turn itself down to keep your food warm, so you can safely leave it to finish cooking without fear of burning the house down!
The Home Cooker comes with a number of pots that can be layered on top of each other like on a conventional steamer, as well as a chopping tower which will easily grate and slice food straight into the pot.
Other products in the range include a steamer, hand blender, food processor and blender.
