ITV switching off all 7 channels to force us into the Olympic spirit

The Olympic Games, like any major sporting event, will often see an uptick in people attempting to improve their fitness.

With Rio 2016 just weeks away, ITV is hoping to lure even the most avid telly addicts off the couch, for one hour at least.

The ‘I Am Team GB’ event will see the light entertainment channel shut down all seven of its channels on August 27, between 9:30am and 10:30am (via Recombu).

The plan is to get people to hundreds of sporting events being staged across the country, with partner the National Lottery calling it the World’s Biggest Sports Day.

There’ll even be an event on the set of Corrie, if being away from anything telly-related is too much for fans.
