The Moto 360’s successor may have just been approved for Bluetooth qualification, signalling an imminent launch date.
A new listing on the Bluetooth Special Interest Group, posted on May 11, makes reference to an unnamed Motorola Android device.
The Bluetooth SIG is a standards agency that certifies Bluetooth connected devices; the device in question operates Bluetooth 4.1.
The point to note is that the mystery device is listed under the model number ‘BTMW03’, as spotted by Droid-Life.
News elephants amongst you will remember that the Moto 360 appeared on Bluetooth SIG last year sporting the device number ‘BTMW01’. Coincidence? Unlikely.
What’s more, the Moto 360 turned up on the site in August last year, just days before the unveiling at Google I/O 2015.
Considering this year’s Google I/O is penned in the calendar for May 28 to 29, it now seems likely that we’ll see the Moto 360 2 turn up at the event.

So what can we expect from a Moto 360 2? Previous rumours point to an entirely round display, eschewing the flat-tire screen used on the Moto 360.
It’s also expected that Motorola will utilise a metal clasp mechanism for connecting straps to the main body of the device.
Another report pointed to the successor being developed under the codename ‘Smelt’, using a screen resolution of 360 x 360, and running off Android Wear 5.1 OS.
