Is the App Store down? Apple’s app search not working

The Apple App Store appears to be suffering from widespread issues, leaving users unable to find apps.

Some users say that searching for apps brings up an empty box, rather than the usual list of relevant downloads. Others are reporting that searching for specific apps brings up the wrong results entirely.

We tried a few searches in the office and found that a search for “Tidal” brought up a game called “Turtle Crawl”, while a search for “Spotify” gave “SoundCloud” as the top result.

Not surprisingly, Twitter has been flooded with user complaints about the issue:

Reports online suggest that Apple is aware of the issue, and is said to be working on a fix.

Apple’s system status page currently lists the App Store as online and working, with “no reported issues at this time”.
