Is Snapchat down? Normal service appears to resume following outage

Is Snapchat down? The service experienced a widespread outage on Thursday February 15, which Snapchat support confirmed, but normal service appears to have resumed as of Friday morning (February 16).

Aggregator Down Detector corroborated the issues, with outages most prominent in the UK, Western Europe and the North-Eastern part of the United States.

We were also able confirm the outage through members of the Trusted Reviews editorial team unable to get their Snapchat fix.

For its part, Snapchat copped to the issue and said it was working on a fix.

The outage came amid an uproar over a redesigned iOS app, which has users looking for ways to install the previous version. As of Tuesday this week, more than 725,000 users had signed a petition calling for Snap to reinstate the old design

It’s clear that not all Snapchatters experienced the issues, with many tweeting they were still up and running despite the firestorm of tweets complaining about the outage.
