Following the news that Microsoft will cease production of the Surface 3 this December, comes the news that Redmond could be readying a new Surface device for release this year.
App developer Subhan Chemburkar recently visited the Microsoft offices and posted photos to Twitter which hint at the new product.
As The Verge first reported, Chemburkar's visit to Microsoft's building 88 resulted in several images of a wall displaying the company's Surface hardware releases thus far, complete with cards showing the words 'Coming Soon'.
While there are three cards displaying '2017', one of them is labelled 2016, suggesting Microsoft is gearing up for the release of a new Surface device.

Just what this upcoming hardware will be remains unclear, although DigiTimes is reporting it will be an AIO alternative to the Surface Book.
The site's track record with leaks is shaky at best, however, so take that with a pinch of salt.
No doubt the 2017 placeholders shown in Chemburkar's photos relate to these two devices, but for now the 2016 device remains a mystery.
Microsoft hasn't confirmed what this year's hardware release will be, but sources 'familiar with Microsoft's Surface plans' told The Verge the company is working on several different 'PC form factors'.
