Will LG launch four new smartwatches in 2017?
Smartwatches may not be a must-have product just yet, but 2017 could be the year the wearables break into the mainstream.
And it seems LG will be trying to get in on the action, if new trademark applications (via GSMInfo) are anything to go by.
According to the applications, the South Korean firm could be working on four new smartwatches: Watch Style, Watch Pro, Watch Force, and Watch Sole.

As the firm details in its applications, the devices will take the form of “watches that communicate data to PDAs; Smart phones for wrist; Smart phones; Watches that communicate data to smartphones; Smart phones that fit on the user’s face in the manner of eyeglasses.”
LG hasn’t released a smartwatch since the Watch Urbane 2nd Edition LTE, which was pulled after being announced in November 2015 due to a hardware issue.
The original LG Watch Urbane
The Watch Urbane ran on Android Wear and went back on sale in March this year, but LG has not revealed any further wearable plans since.
Unfortunately there are no further details on the upcoming devices, which of course remain unconfirmed at this point.
However, it seems safe to assume the Watch Style will be a similar device to the Watch Urbane, while the Pro will likely come with some high-end features.
Just what LG has in store for the Watch Force and Watch Sole remains unclear, but we could see some pressure-sensitive screen tech on the former, or perhaps some more rugged casing for what could be more of a fitness tracker.
Interestingly, the company seems to be preparing to launch its own rival to Android Pay and Apple Pay alongside the new wearables, based on another trademark application for LG Watch Pay.
We’re expecting to hear more about these devices in the coming months so stay tuned for the latest.
